John Buscema and Klaus Janson - Original Splash Page Art for Kull the Conqueror #6, page 1 and 7 (Marvel, 1984). When one thinks of comic book barbarians and the artists who render them, John Buscema's name will always come to the forefront of thought. His work on Conan set a standard that all subsequent artists have tried to imitate. These two pages are fine examples of Buscema's ability to convey heroic stature in sweeping backgrounds filled with action and detail. Klaus Janson gained critical recognition as Frank Miller's inker on Daredevil. His work on other artists' pencils were equally as able to convey the moody drama of the moment with black panel elements that framed the central characters and focused the viewer on the most important aspects of the image. These pages measure approximately 11" x 16.5" and are in excellent condition with minor use of corrective white out. The story credits are on an original stat which was produced from the original hand-lettering that happens to be delineated on the back side of the first page. The "Stan Lee Presents" stat is a recent replacement.
