Joe Kubert - Speed Comics #36, page 1 Original Art (Harvey, 1945). If you were lucky enough to pick Speed Comics #36 up right off the stands, you would have been amazed to find this cinematic Joe Kubert Black Cat splash page for the story, "Doom for Traitors." Cloaked in half-light and stark shadows, Kubert places an emphasis on the lit areas, and all eyes are led to the panel featuring the Black Cat. While a menacing hooded figure hovers above, the Black Cat is held hostage, doomed to be burnt at the stake. Also, look on the back of the page and you'll find some interesting layout doodles in blue pencil -- it's all part of the creative process! The art has a 12.5" x 18" image area. The first frame has a stain from a missing paste-up, and some residual glue staining, but otherwise the art is in Very Good condition.
