    Description

Jack Kirby and Vince Colletta Journey Into Mystery #123 Splash Page 1 Thor Original Art (Marvel, 1965). An iconic image of the Mighty Thor swinging mighty Mjolnir, produced by Jack "King" Kirby from the peak of his Marvel Silver Age era! This is one great looking full-figure splash page! Thor prepares to take a reporter to Asgard. Not only does it not go well, he even inadvertently repeats this error 13 years later in Thor #273 when he unknowingly transports Harris Hobbs and a TV crew back to Asgard with him. Produced in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 13.5" x 18.5". Slight tanning, with some handling wear. There are a couple of stains in the image area, pinholes in the corners, and corner wear. Overall in Very Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
