Jack Kirby and Joe Sinnott Fantastic Four #99 The Thing in Ski Gear Splash Page 1 Original Art (Marvel, 1970). For the opening of issue #99 of the "World's Greatest Comic Magazine," Jack Kirby showed readers his whimsical humor with this offbeat portrait of the ever-lovin' Thing as a "regular blue-eyed Boomshusher." It seemed Reed and Sue Richards were always walking in on some strange situation involving the lovable man-monster -- d'ohhhh. Here is the coolest Thing splash North of Yancy Street -- and it's another masterwork, so near the end of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's legendary 100-issue run on the premiere title of the Silver Age. Joe Sinnott added the perfect Bronze Age finish to this magnificent splash, and Artie Simek's masterful "display lettering" was a key visual component in the success of the Marvel empire. This awesome stage-setter for "The Torch Goes Wild" has an approximate image area of 10" x 14". Aside from some scattered production stains, common to Marvel pages of this era, the art is in Very Good condition.
