Jack Kirby and Joe Simon Boys' Ranch #2 Opening Splash Page Original Art (Harvey, 1950). The gang is all together for this incredible opening page, spotlighting Clay Duncan and his ranch boys -- Dandy, Wabash, and Angel, plus grizzled Wee Willie Weehawken. Simon and Kirby were experts at kid gangs, and they created quite a few during their tenure together. Boys' Ranch took the formula to a different setting -- rather than tenement slums (Newsboy Legion) or the world at war (Boy Commandos), this series was set in the Wild West. While short-lived, the Boys' Ranch stories were fondly remembered by fans, and eventually collected in a now out-of-print hardback edition. This just might be the ultimate Boys' Ranch page, held dearly by co-creator Joe Simon until his passing late in 2011. The art is in ink and graphite on thick illustration board, with an image area of approximately 12.5" x 18". Some minor soiling and staining along the outer borders is present, but the image itself remains in Excellent condition, ready to be treasured by an advanced Simon and Kirby collector. From the Joe Simon Estate.
