DescriptionJack Kirby and Dick Ayers Gunsmoke Western #73 Splash Page 1 Original Art (Marvel, 1962). Jack Kirby was called upon by Stan Lee to illustrate one more of his horse operas even as the Marvel Age of superhero comics took off in the early sixties. This splash page holds the distinction of being one of the most rowdy of Marvel Western splashes. Jack Kirby's hard-hitting brand of storytelling is in full evidence here. Dick Ayers' inks add a roughshod energy, fitting for the Western genre, that finishes Kirby's pencils perfectly. This powerhouse slugfest has an image area of 12.5" x 18.5", and it's in Excellent condition.
