Jack Kirby and Chic Stone Journey into Mystery #108 Splash Page 1 Thor Original Art (Marvel, 1964). Every page from this issue is being offered in this auction, but of course the splash page of the lead feature is the most desirable of the bunch. Kirby really outdoes himself! Reared back with the mighty Mjolnir in his hands, Thor looks to unleash a powerful blow with dismayed onlookers unaware of his reason for shaking the ground beneath them. A grand opening to "At the Mercy of Loki, Prince of Evil", which features an early guest appearance by Doctor Strange and the first time the two heroes meet. Created at twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12.5" x 18.5". Toning, stat text paste-up at the top, staples and staple holes at the top, small tears along the edges, marginal notes, with moderate staining and smudging/handling wear.
