Goseki Kojima Manga Goraku (Samurai Ito Ittosai) Painted Pin-Up Illustration Original Art (1970). This sensational pin-up-published in the July 1970 issue of Manga Goraku is the first major Goseki Kojima artwork Heritage has offered to date, and Kojima is celebrated internationally as a master artist. In 1970, he collaborated with writer Kazuo Koike to create Kozure Okami (Lone Wolf and Cub), their most famous work. This work hails from a peak period of Kojima's career when Koike and Kojima were dubbed "the Golden Duo." The subject of this painting is the famous real-life samurai, Ito Ittosai, and the old man in this scene is a dead-ringer for Yagyu, the Lone Wolf's arch-nemesis. This sublime pin-up, painted by Goseki Kojima, one of the most influential manga artists ever, has an image area of 13" x 18.5". The art is in Excellent condition, and a small piece of calligraphy done by the artist's first assistant is included with this lot.
