Gene Fawcette Boots and Her Buddies #8 Partial Splash Page 1 Original Art (Pines, 1949). This piece of original art was produced to introduce the story "Hijack a Husband!" that was comprised of reprints of the NEA comic strip from approximately 1945. Fawcette had been drawing Tara in Wonder Comics for Pines at the time, however the character was dropped from that title just two months prior. This is the top three-quarters of the page, as a strip ran along the bottom in the printed book. The splash panel was created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12" x 13.5". There are text and art correction paste-ups missing, leaving glue residue behind. Also, there are some interesting blue pencil editorial marginal notes regarding the characters depicted... "She's a Burlesque Queen, not a hometown innocent!", and "No Breast, All Hips!". You can see the whiteout art corrections were done after the notations. Signed by artist Gene Fawcette in the top margin. In Very Good condition.
