Gene Colan and Klaus Janson - Original Splash Page Art for Jemm, Son of Saturn #7, page 5 (DC, 1985). The two words, "Utter Madness," written at the top of this page, adequately ushers us in to this swirling, non-stop image that edges into madness. From the seventh issue of the twelve issue "maxi-series," comes this eye-boggling image of Jemm, the Son of Saturn, penciled by Gene Colan and inked Klaus Janson. Colan wrote a note to himself, along the right edge, "interior wavers and bends ala Dali," and he certainly carries it through! This art measures an overall 11" x 16.25" with a 10" x 15" image area. The corners have been cut at diagonal angles in the printing process, but overall this work is in excellent condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
