    Description

Don Sherwood - Original Art for The Partridge Family #13, page 23 (Charlton, 1972).For many members of the "TV generation," the Partridge Family defined the 1970s. From their hip clothes to their groovy psychedelic bus, the Partridges were a cultural phenomenon, easily topping both the TV ratings and the Billboard charts. Never slow to pick up on a trend, Charlton supplied the comic book version of America's favorite family with art by Don Sherwood, best known for his work on newspaper strips including "Dan Flagg" and "Sgt. Preston of the Yukon," and Charlton's comic book adventures of the Phantom. Offered here is a great splash page featuring one of the lesser-known Partridges, young Chris, played originally by Jeremy Gelbwaks (1970-71 seasons), and later by Brian Forster (1971-74 seasons). Measuring approximately 13.25" x 19.25" overall, with an approximate image area of 12" x 18", this page is in excellent condition and will be a welcome addition to any collection of comic art or 1970s nostalgia.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
