Description

Don Perlin and Brett Breeding The Transformers #26 Splash Page 1 Original Art (Marvel, 1987). A somber, high-stakes moment unfolds on this opening splash page as Ratchet works with surgical focus to revive the fallen Optimus Prime. The scene echoes the emotional gut-punch from Transformers: The Movie, where Optimus lay dying, a moment seared into the memories of a generation. Overhead, a gallery of solemn Autobots look on, including Silverbolt, Jetfire, Perceptor, Blaster, Beachcomber, Powerglide, Cosmos, Warpath, Hotspot, Slingshot, and Fireflight. And as the title "Funeral For A Friend" implies, it's a death that feels written in stone -- at least for now. Ink and screentone over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15.25", including stat header and indicia paste-ups. Slight toning, minor staining, discolored screentone and text paste-ups, uneven production-trimmed top edge, whiteout corrections, stat title paste-up, red key lines, minor smudging, marginal production notes, and minor handling wear. In Very Good condition.
