Description

Don Heck and George Roussos The Avengers Annual #1 Internal Splash Page Original Art (Marvel, 1967). The Avengers assemble -- twice -- on a self-contained coda to the team's first annual, from a peak period for the ascending Marvel Age of Heroes. No disguising that distinctive Heck style, but Roussos (as a prominent inker of the first Avengers artist, Jack Kirby) lends a Kirbyesque weight to the brushwork. The lower margin contains an interesting argument between a nameless nitpicking editor and Marvel's production chief, Sol Brodsky: "Should legs of Goliath [pictured, center] be added?" Answers Brodsky: "NO." Ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 13" x 19". In Excellent condition.
