Description
Don Heck and George Roussos (as George Bell) The Avengers Annual #1 Splash Page 45 Original Art (Marvel, 1967). It's a battle royale, as Gods battle (Hercules and Thor), siblings battle (Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver), old rivals battle (Iron Man and Hawkeye), leaving Captain America to go head-to-much-higher-head with Goliath! Editor Stan Lee and writer Roy Thomas state in the "Bullpen Note" at the bottom that they turned Don and Artie loose on this one page to show what they can do! While it certainly is a fantastic page, we suspect they meant inker George Roussos instead of letterer Artie Simek! Amazing work, rendered twice-up scale in ink over graphite (and some blue pencil) on Bristol board with an image area of 12.5" x 18.5". There is a discoloration in the lower portion of the image area and margin. The toned page is in Very Good condition.More information about Don Heck. See also: Heck, Don Artist.
