Dick Sprang Detective Comics #572 Double-Page Splash "Dick Sprang Remembers" Original Art (DC, 1987). For the special 50th anniversary of Detective Comics in 1987, DC pulled out all the stops and presented fans with a nostalgic blast from the past. Many fans of the Caped Crusader have long considered artist Dick Sprang to be the ultimate illustrator of the feature, and in this magnificent double-page spread, Sprang treated his legion of followers to a loving look back at his long career. Each of the two pages is loaded with delicious detail typical of Sprang's glory years on the Batman feature, with the left side focusing on friends like Alfred, Police Commissioner Gordon, Professor Carter Nichols, and scenes from selected adventures, while the right side page features some of the many colorful villains the Dynamic Duo faced over the years, like the Joker, the Penguin, Two-Face, the Scarecrow, and more. Each page is drawn in ink on standard comic art boards, with an image area of 12" x 18", and both are signed on the back. Other than some light rubber cement stains on the old-style Batman logo paste-up, the art is in Excellent condition, and is sure to be the prized possession of the lucky winning bidder who takes this home.Lookup the Comic Book in our Guide
