Dick Ayers and John Tartaglione Sgt. Fury #36 Splash Page 1 Original Art (Marvel, 1966). Page 1 of the story "My Brother, My Enemy" features Eric Koenig as he attempts to out-do the Howling Commandos at their own gig! It is a very early appearance for the Howling Commando who often posed undercover as a German officer to protect the rest of the team. He was also the inspiration for Patton Oswalt's character(s) on the TV series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. This fantastic twice-up splash was created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12.75" x 17.25". The header, "Ptang!" sound effect, and credit box are all stat paste-ups, with a bit of glue residue near them. Koenig's arm and gun are stat paste-up as well, with a slit in the Bristol board by his head and shoulder to allow the stat to slip under them. The stat is creased and torn on the lower right corner. There are production oil stains on the image area. Overall, the page is in Very Good condition.
