Description

Dave Gibbons Watchmen #12 Splash Page 3 Original Art (DC, 1987). To emphasize the enormity of the denouement of this ground-breaking series, the last chapter ("A Stronger Loving World") opened with six solemn splash pages with no dialog or caption boxes. The only words are signs on the city street (such as the theater house on this page that was showing The Day the Earth Stood Still) and the story title on Page 6. The mad plan has been triggered, and the rest of the issue is spent dealing with the repercussions and attempting to bring the true villain to justice. This is a stunning page with incredible detail, as created in ink over graphite on bright white Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 16". Signed by Gibbons in the lower right margin. In Excellent condition.
