Dan DeCarlo - Betty Pin-Up Original Art (Archie, 1969). Betty Cooper once again proves her devotion to that red-headed scatterbrain Archie Andrews by braving the elements to "drop in" for a visit. Interestingly, this actual pin-up appears to be unpublished, as the gag was re-drawn (adding Archie's dad, and lowering the snow drift substantially) by DeCarlo and used as the cover to Betty and Me #27 (note the inscription "used for cover" in the lower margin). Still, this "first draft" is an interesting artifact, and a splendid piece of work by the best Archie artist of all time. The page measures 11.5" x 17.5" and is in Very Good condition, with a small tear in the left margin and some light moisture staining. A copy of Betty and Me #27 is included with this lot.
