DescriptionCarl Burgos - Original Art for Tales to Astonish #63, page 16 (Marvel, 1965). With his place in comics history secured by the creation of the original Human Torch in 1939, Carl Burgos left the four-color field in 1942 to pursue a career in the much more lucrative world of advertising art. However, once a comic artist, always a comic artist, and Burgos returned to the field briefly in the 1960s, where he spent a short but memorable stint on Giant Man in Tales to Astonish, and even penciled a tale of the new Human Torch in Strange Tales #123. The pin-up offered here is a classic image of Giant Man and the winsome Wasp, rendered by Burgos during his three-issue tenure on the title. In excellent condition, the piece measures approximately 13.5" x 21" overall, with some evidence of white paint in the bottom right corner, which does not affect the image in any way.
