    Virgil Finlay - William Shakespeare Figure/Background Study Original Art (circa 1935). Drawn in ink on spiral-bound sketchbook paper, Virgil Finlay played with the background patterns in three studies of William Shakespeare's portrait. The fourth study is of a group of figures. The paper has an overall size that measures 5" x 7". This drawing was professionally separated from the opposite side of the sketchbook page and then archivally strengthened; otherwise it is in Excellent condition.
