    Description

Robert Crumb "I Love You Jimmy!" Sketch Original Art (c. 1967). The girls are all agog at the Rock concert, digging the vibes from guitarist Jimmy. We believe "Jimmy" might in fact be based on James Gurley, the highly popular guitarist for the band Big Brother and the Holding Company, the San Francisco group that Crumb had befriended. He would go on to create the memorable cover for the band's second album, Cheap Thrills, which helped elevate him to worldwide fame. That looks like singer Janis Joplin standing beside him. The ink on lined notebook paper art has an image area of approximately 6.75" x 6.75", and has been professionally matted and Plexiglas framed to an overall 10" x 12", and is in Excellent condition. It was included in the recent "Crumb, from Underground to Genesis" exhibit held in Paris, France.
