    Description

Robert Crumb "I Love Cleveland" Sketchbook Page Original Art (c. 1962). Robert Crumb moved from his family home in Philadelphia to Cleveland, Ohio in 1962, where he found work at American Greetings, doing production art and designs for greeting cards. He maintained several sketchbooks during this time; this somewhat sarcastic page of a bland-looking cityscape comes from one of those sketchbooks. Crumb was just beginning to master the use of the mechanical pen here; he would go on to make this his instrument of choice when doing comics and artwork for many years to come. The ink on paper art has an image area of roughly 7.5" x 9.5"; the page, which was professionally removed and separated from the reverse side, has been matted and framed using UV Plexiglas, for an overall size of 11.5" x 14". It was recently included in the "Crumb, from Underground to Genesis" exhibit held in Paris, France. It's in Excellent condition.
