Robert Crumb Hippy Spoon and Needle Sketch Original Art (c. 1968). A page from one of R. Crumb's notorious sketchbooks, with images drawn in heavy ink line (animated syringe, spoon, and globe), as well as a finer line (sexy cartoon girl, floating pillow, rooftop skyline and "Hippy" lettering). This image has been printed in several Crumb sketchbook editions, and the Spoon and Needle characters were reused in the classic "Street Corner Daze" strip (also featured in this auction). The image area is approximately 6.75" x 8". The paper has been professionally split from a reverse side, and is now a single-sided page; there are traces of tape residue in the top corners, but otherwise, the art looks to be in Excellent condition. While the page is unsigned, the art style is typical of R. Crumb art from the late 1960s.
