Robert and Charles Crumb "Jim and Mabel Play Marbles" Sketchbook Page Original Art (c. early 1960s). Page from one of Robert's 5.25" x 8.25" sketchbooks, with pencil drawings by him of his early character Mabel, a grimacing man's face, an old man's profile, and several animal characters, including one that looks like Fritz the Cat wearing a cap, tie, and jacket. Robert's brother Charles drew the image of young Jim, looking up with wide eyes and saying, "Yer turn, Mabel..."; this was during Charles' "wrinkled look" phase, shortly before he quit drawing altogether. The sketchbook page was professionally split from the reverse side, and backed with archival paper. In Good condition, with minor smudges. Extremely rare to find any art by Charles Crumb, who guided and inspired Robert towards a career in cartooning.
