    Description

Morse's Funnies Third Version Self Portrait Sketch Original Art Group (Albert Morse, 1974). Here's a rare collection that any collector of Underground Comix original art will not want to miss. Albert Morse, the lawyer who worked for many of the top names in the Underground, was an art collector himself, and often asked his clients to contribute special art to one of his pet projects, a self-published item called Morse's Funnies. This extremely limited edition publication was eventually expanded to include drawings of the artists, all done as self portraits. This set of art, mostly from that final third version of Morse's Funnies, includes sketches of Aline Kominsky (the current Mrs. R. Crumb), Dave Geiser, Barney Steel, Dan O'Neill, Ken Barteleme, Jack Jackson (signing as "Jaxon"), Jay Kinney, Larry Welz, Roger Brand (double-sided), Michele Brand, Karen Marie, Justin Green, Sharon Rudahl, Guy Colwell, Bill Griffith (signing as "Griffy"), Gary Hallgren, Willy Murphy, Kim Deitch, Leslie Cabarga, Rich Jensen, Larry Rippee (signing as "Ripp"), Mike Schacker, Patricia Moodian, and a couple of others we can't quite make out. Most of the sketches were drawn on 8" x 5" index cards, in a variety of media. The condition is mostly Excellent, with a few coming in as Very Good. An incredible instant Underground art collection! From the Albert L. Morse Collection.
