Heinrich Kley "Mädchen und Krokodil" ["Girl and Crocodile"] Ink Sketch Original Art (c. 1920-30s). It is no secret that Heinrich Kley's many works featuring women with crocodiles were some of the influences on the "Dance of the Hours" sequence in Walt Disney's Fantasia. Disney himself was quite a collector of Kley original pieces. The grid configuration here may represent an attempt at drawing-to-scale of another larger version of this illustration. Ink over graphite on pencil-ruled vellum. Image area, 6.5" x 4.25", matted to 13.75" x 16". Moderate toning and smudging. Excellent condition.
