Frank Frazetta - Prehistoric Couple Sketch Original Art (c. 1950s). This soulful pencil-with-color miniature possesses much of the lithe, painterly grace that one associates with Frazetta's more polished large-scale oils -- heavy-duty artistic sophistication, applied to the depiction of primitive humans, a recurring subject in the larger body of work. The spontaneous composition conveys very much a Tarzan-styled attitude, what with the dominant female figure and (in lighter pencil shadings) the jungle-man figure. The unmistakable signature appears at lower right. Graphite and blue pencil on sketch-pad stock. Image area, 9" x 5.75". Moderate age-toning. Excellent condition.
