Frank Frazetta - Original Pencil Rough for Documentary Poster Art for "The African Elephant" (1970s). In the early 1970s Frazetta was asked to do a movie poster for a documentary entitled "The African Elephant" proposed by National General Films. The finished painting can be found in the Testament art book published by Underwood Books. The final painting was never used. What is offered here is the powerful study for that movie poster oil. The penciled image of the elephant is masterfully drawn and is almost three-dimensional in impact. Frazetta has softened the boldness of the design by adding suggestions of jungle throughout the background. The finished oil reflects all these preliminary elements exactly. Image area 5" x 6" on a 7" x 10" sheet of thin art paper.
