Frank Frazetta - Original Color Prelim for "Pony Tail" (1968). This small preliminary color sketch was created by Frank Frazetta for the cover to Pony Tail, written by L. Sprague de Camp, which was published by Paperback Library in 1968. The finished oil painting was done with a completely different color scheme; Frazetta often made such changes while painting his final work. Although relatively small in size, this spectacular color "comprehensive" is packed with details and life, with stance and figures composed much as they appear in the final painting. This piece measures an overall 4.5" x 6" with a 2.75" x 4" image area. Signed with the full Frazetta signature in the lower right corner of this color work.
