Description

Everett Raymond Kinstler - The Shadow, Zorro, and Hawkman Sketch Original Art (1994). A striking piece featuring three of Everett Raymond Kinstler's favorite comic characters, reflecting his prolific Golden Age career at Avon and DC. Kinstler brought a naturalistic touch to Hawkman in Flash Comics, a cinematic flair to Avon's Zorro, and moody noir atmosphere to The Shadow. After leaving comics in the 1960s, he reinvented himself as a world-renowned portraitist, painting official White House portraits of U.S. Presidents, including Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan. Ink and marker over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 13". Water damage staining on the top right edge, light staining, smudging, whiteout corrections, and handling wear. Personalized by Kinstler in the lower left image area. In Very Good condition.
From the Keif Fromm Estate.
