Charles Schulz "Carl Schulz, This Is Your Life" Sketch Original Art (1959). Here's a bit of important family history from the man who created and drew the classic comic strip Peanuts. Charles Schulz often referred to Charlie Brown's father as a barber, and that's exactly what his own dad, Carl Schulz was. On the occasion of a 1959 dinner honoring Carl Schulz's 42+ years of service in his St. Paul Minnesota barber shop, his famous son Charles drew a large cartoon image of him with the caption, "Carl Schulz, This is YOUR Life!!!" that was subsequently published in the local newspaper. Here is that original sign, created in black ink on a piece of 16.75" x 29" Bristol board. The artwork has long been kept in an old mailing tube (from one of Carl's old barber trade magazines), and is in Very Good rolled condition. Accompanying the art are three newspaper clippings from the event, plus an additional later clipping discussing the Redwood Empire skating arena built by Charles and his first wife Joyce, along with seven vintage photos of Carl with Charles' step-mother Annabelle and other relatives. As a bonus, an 8.5" x 11" black and white print of Charlie Brown and Snoopy, signed "Best Wishes, Sparky" is also included; this print may have hung in Carl's barber shop. For the Peanuts fan who thinks he has seen it all, this is for you!
