Twenty five year old Burne Hogarth took the reigns of the Tarzan comic strip from the great Hal Foster in 1936 and helmed the strip for a decade, certainly one the highest points in comics. This pen and ink sketch by the "Michaelangelo of the comic strip," was drawn in 1939, early in his famed first tenure with the strip. Framed and matted to an image area of 5.5" x 3.5" and in Excellent condition. Signed and inscribed by Burne Hogarth at the lower right. From the Bob Cowan Collection.
