Sergio Aragones MAD Character Montage Original Art (2021). MAD enthusiasts will flip over Aragones' vertical panorama -- a self-caricature surrounded by such emblematic figures as the MAD Zeppelin, adorned with a famous MAD-trademark term, potrzebie; a celestial Bill Gaines, founding publisher; gap-toothed mascot Alfred E. Neuman; Antonio Prohias' Spy vs. Spy antagonists; cartoonists Al Jaffee, Dave Berg, and Don Martin (drawn in replicas of their individual styles); founding editor Harvey Kurtzman, represented by his signature nose-picking little-kid character; and Arthur, the potted avocado plant. A Kurtzman-style decorative border ties it all together, with a nod to Aragones' famous page-margin gags, as seen in innumerable issues of MAD. Ink and crayon (tints) on Bristol board. Image area, 10" x 15.5". Excellent condition.
All proceeds from this special National Cartoonists Society Foundation auction item will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
