    Description

Rudolph Dirks/Gus Mager The Captain and the Kids and Hawkshaw the Detective Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 9-5-43 (United Feature Syndicate, 1943). Rudolph Dirks certainly had a "vay vit voids" and "void balloons" as this busy Sunday can attest. Also included is the Hawkshaw the Detective companion strip, by Gus Mager (signed as "Watso"). It is on a separate piece of Bristol, attached to the main strip with tape, on the back. Great stuff by a pivotal figure in the development of the American comic strip. This ink over graphite on Bristol board piece has an image size of 22.5" x 29.25", and it is in Very Good condition.
