    Description

Robert Crumb There's No Business Illustration Original Art (Black Sparrow Press, 1984). Failed comedian Manny Hyman falls prey to a drunken nightclub patron as a foredoomed act collapses under the weight of Hyman's born-loser nature. Crumb captures ideally author Charles Bukowski's depiction of the seamier side of show business. An astonishing wealth of environmental detail extends to a fallen microphone, a ringside couple who seem amused by the violence, and a heedless, ragged chorus line of seminude dancers -- all in the service of illuminating the nightmarish story. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Dimensions, 9.75" x 12". Slight toning, staining along left edge with light rippling, painted white retouching, light handling wear. Signed at lower right. Very Good condition.
