    Description

Robert Crumb There's No Business Cover "Revolving Door" Original Art (Black Sparrow Press, 1984). The manager of a shabby nightclub warns boozy comedian Manny Hyman not to botch the gig: "We got a revolving door, here..." Crumb captures ideally author Charles Bukowski's characterization of a born loser struggling through a last-ditch career. The wealth of environmental detail is astonishing -- fast-food trash, soiled clothing, the sad debris of a dressing room for has-been entertainers, all consistent with the character's hangdog posture. Crumb's hand-lettering provides the caption. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Dimensions, 9.5" x 12". Slight toning, staining along the left edge with light rippling. Signed at lower right. Very Good condition.
