    Description

Robert Crumb There's No Business 2 Illustrations on Single Sheet Original Art (Black Sparrow Press, 1984). Manny Hyman, born-loser comedian on his last go-round, inspects himself backstage before lurching onto the stage of a shabby nightclub. His appearance (second illustration) is rewarded with a belligerent objection to his attempts at humor: "You ain't funny..." Crumb captures to perfection the embittered tone of author Charles Bukowski's nightmarish story. The wealth of environmental detail is astonishing -- complete with a toppled table and a marginal image of a very Crumb-like patron (left). Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Combined dimensions, 9" x 13". Slight toning, staining along left edge with rippling at upper left, painted white retouching, light handling wear. Each image signed by Crumb. Very Good condition.
