    Robert Crumb Hup #4 Complete 4-Page Story Original Art (Last Gasp, 1992). "You Can't Have Them All -- Magnificent Specimens I Have Seen" was subtitled "My Troubles With Women - Part 37". It is one of the most honest and unflinching stories from his vast library of work. In it, Crumb attempts to explain his fascination with women of Amazon proportions. That makes this pretty much the quintessential Crumb self-referential story! With panel 5 of page 1 as the quintessential image of the man himself!
    The story is simply stuffed full of illustrations of "Crumb women" with powerful legs and bodacious badonkadonks. But hidden in this fantastic piece are a couple of nice cameos. Aline Kominsky-Crumb (his lovely and "dear, long-suffering wife"), and then in panel 2 of page 4 there is Terry Zwigoff (director of the 1994 documentary film Crumb).
    There are other Crumb stories that are important for being a "first appearance" of some character, or a first issue, or of some other significance. However, you would be hard pressed to find a story that more succinctly encapsulates the driving essence of the man himself than this one right here! If you can't appreciate it for that, then check out that art... big thick bold lines, the crosshatching, the great gritty detail... the beauty of ordinary life splashed all over the page... and those women... stunning!
