Robert Crumb Help! #22 "Fritz Comes On Strong" Page 2 Original Art (Warren, 1965). Robert Crumb began his professional career at age 21, with a two-page story published in Harvey Kurtzman's Help! magazine. The story featured a cartoon version of the Crumb family pet cat, Fritz, as he brings home a kitty girlfriend and proceeds to gleefully strip off all her clothing. Robert had been drawing the adventures of Fritz in his homemade comics since childhood, but this was the first time the public was exposed to this randy feline, and it wouldn't be the last! The 8.5" x 11" page is in pen and ink on bristol, and is marked "p. 14 60%" on the back in red wax pencil. The page is signed "R. Crumb 1964", and has an image area of approximately 7.75" x 6". There's a small, unobtrusive blue ink "50" in the upper right corner, and a pinhead-sized stain in the middle of the page, but otherwise is in Excellent condition. It's a truly great and historic page from one of the most important American artists of the last fifty years. PLEASE NOTE: While the Help! feature was indeed printed as two pages (each with nine images), the art had been reconfigured from an original three page story, with each page featuring six images; the page we are offering features one-third of the printed story, or the last six images.
