    Description

Rick Griffin Yellow Dog #2 "ALA" 1-Page Story Original Art (Print Mint, 1968). A typically enigmatic page of shapes, patterns, and quirky lettering, by the most cosmic Zap Comix artist of them all, the late Rick Griffin (1944-1991). We don't know what any of this means, but we like it! It was later reproduced as a back cover for an issue of the iconic fanzine Promethean Enterprises. The art is in ink on paper or board, with an approximate image area of 5.5" x 7.25", matted and framed with glass for an overall size of 12" x 15". There is a small piece of paste-up art in the top left image area. Griffin pages like this are rarely seen on the marketplace, so don't miss your chance to snatch an original! The page is tanned with minor handling wear; Very Good condition. From the Eric Sack Collection.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
