Richard F. Outcault Buster Brown Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 10-8-16 (Newspaper Feature Service, 1916). "Yes Sir! Smithy is Some Vaulter" This original art page is partially hand-colored with watercolors as a reference for the printer. That's why a character is colored only the first time they appear in the strip. Produced in ink and watercolor over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 18.75" x 20". Signed by Outcault in the last panel. The backside features a couple of pure graphite prelim drawings where he was working out how to draw Smithy in mid-vault. The art is lightly toned, with some minor handling and corner wear/damage. There are pinholes in the margins. Overall, in Very Good condition. Comes with a tear sheet of the printed Sunday comic. From the Outcault Family Collection.
