    Description

Peter Bagge Neat Stuff #9 Story Page 8 from "Hippy House" Signed and Dated Original Art (Fantagraphics Books, 1988). Bagge's formative work takes on an added resonance upon the release of Jon B. Cooke's The Book of Weirdo (2019), a history of the Robert Crumb magazine that Bagge once edited. Flying solo with Neat Stuff, meanwhile, Bagge developed a novelistic arc involving a loutish schoolboy named Buddy Bradley. Here we find Bradley trying to be alone with his (dirty) thoughts, annoyed by a fellow student. Here lie the beginnings of Bagge's Hate, a serialized epic of the Seattle Grunge scene. Signed and dated at lower right. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12" x 16.25". Excellent condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
