Paul von Klieben "Through the Desert" Ghost Town Painting (c. 1940s-50s). Knott's Berry Farm is, for the first time, opening their archives to celebrate 75 years of Ghost Town and to say "thank you" to its global audience of fans who have supported this park since its opening. No single artist is more associated with Ghost Town than Walter Knott's right-hand man, Paul von Klieben. This is a master painting on board with the title "Through the Desert" handwritten on the frame. The massive Wells Fargo stagecoach painting depicts a crew and eight customers (seven gents and one classy lady at the window), and comes in at a stunning 50" x 15". We love the details: a great cactus, an old wagon wheel, and a cattle skull on the side of the road. The painting is framed to an overall size of 68" x 56", and is in its original 1940s Ghost Town frame with holes in the frame from having been bolted to the wall. The painting is signed on bottom left. There is some minor handling surface wear, staining, and scratches on both the painting and the frame. It's in great condition considering its age and years of public display. Very Good overall condition.
