Will Eisner The Spirit "Gogi the Yogi" Page 4 Original Art dated 9-21-41 (Will Eisner Productions, 1941). The earliest Spirit Section page we've ever offered, and only the second from 1941 (the first one was dated 12-21-41, sold by Heritage in 2011). In this story, Ebony's trouble with his girlfriend Juliet's cousin Montmorency gets an assist from the Yogi's hypnotic suggestion that our diminutive hero suddenly has the power of two men. Although the patois spoken is dated and could make some uncomfortable, it's still a fun page, with the Spirit (and his wide-brimmed hat) appearing in several panels. The ink over graphite art is on Bristol board, with an image area of 13" x 18". There are several areas of white-out, and the board has tanned a bit, with minor handling wear along the outer edges; overall condition is Very Good. From A Collection of Great Cartoonists and Illustrators.
