Will Eisner and Wally Wood The Spirit Weekly Newspaper Section Story Page 6 Original Art dated 7-27-52 (Register and Tribune Syndicate, 1952). Will Eisner invited writer Jules Feiffer and artist Wally Wood to produce the weekly Spirit Section for a few weeks. This was concurrent with some of Wood's EC Comics work. Eisner wanted to send the Spirit to the Moon, as the Space Race was really heating up in the world and in public interest at the time. This board is noted as for the 8-3-62 issue of the series; however, it was actually in the 7-27-52 issue instead. The story was titled "Outer Space" and it was the first part of the "Spirit on the Moon" story arc. In fact, this very page is where Denny Colt, along with shipmates Spider and Dutch, launch. Rich with Wally Wood's lush inks and intricate backgrounds, this page is a blast! Created twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 13" x 18". Signed by Eisner in the bottom margin. The strip name and page number are stats stapled to the top of the board. In Excellent condition.
