    Description

Werner Roth and Dick Ayers X-Men #19 Story Page 10 Original Art (Marvel, 1966). An important moment in the X-Men canon: The introduction of Calvin Rankin, alias the Mimic, who can absorb and duplicate the above-normal abilities of each member of the team (the founding X-Men are depicted in civilian guise). This story, "Lo! Now Shall Appear--- the Mimic!" was reprinted in X-Men #69. Roth, incognito as Jay Gavin, provided the pencils and Marvel mainstay Ayers delivered a lithe, soulful inking job. Ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 12.5" x 18.5", framed to 13.75" x 19.75". Intact, though affected by noticeable staining (left side and lower right), mold spots on the back, a slight tear (final panel), and a diagonal crease at mid-page. The art is closely trimmed to the panel borders. In Good condition.
