Wally Wood Lunar Tunes (Bucky Ruckus) Unnumbered Panel Page Original Art (1981). A late-in-life composition -- part-drawing, part-collage -- finds Wood in an experimental phase. Though diminished by illness and professional frustrations, the master bristled anew with humorous and provocative ideas. This found-object combination represents a takeoff on Wood's pal Jack Kirby's cosmic-collage blowouts of the 1960s' Fantastic Four books. The page appears to be a continuation of a "Lunar Tunes" episode that had begun in the closing issue of Wood's Witzend magazine in 1982. The elfin character is Bucky Ruckus, a Buck Rogers spoof whom Wood had introduced almost a generation earlier. An accompanying reproduction contains Bill Pearson's lettering. Ink and collage effects over graphite on Bristol board and other hand-cut clip-file stock. Image area, 13" x 16.5". Moderate toning and spot-staining. Very Good condition.
