Steve Stiles (as Ingram) Grave Tales #2 Page 26 Original Art (Hamilton Comics, 1991). The spirit of EC Comics mainstay Wally Wood hovers over this impressive homage to EC's horror titles of the 1950s. Stiles bylined himself as "Ingram," in recognition of another EC stalwart, Graham Ingels, but the style hews closer to Wood, especially in the facial contours and the layered application of various textures of Zipatone shading film. (Stiles and lettering artist Bill Pearson had been associates of Wood during his independent-publisher phase of the 1960s.) There is an allusion to the anti-comics purge of the 1950s. Ink and Zipatone over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10.75" x 15". Faint toning. Excellent condition.
