DescriptionSteve Ditko Tales to Astonish #39 "The Toy Soldiers" Page 4 Original Art (Marvel, 1963). In this Stan Lee/Steve Ditko classic, young Billy Barton, who collects toy soldiers buys a new civil war figure to guard his Prisoner of War stockade. That evening, he and his dad are attacked by an invader from the sixth dimension, Zogg. Unexpectedly, the lights go dark, and when they turn the lights back on, the invader has disappeared. They chalk it up to some sort of unusual shared dream, and go back to sleep (these scenes here). The following morning when Billy wakes up and peers into his toy stockade, he sees the invader, Zogg, languishing in the cell, guarded by the new toy soldier. The master of pre-hero Marvel fantasy, Steve Ditko, turned in another flawless page. This fantasy masterwork has an image area of 12.5" x 18.5", and the art is in Excellent condition.
