DescriptionSteve Ditko Tales of Suspense #37 Story Page 5 Original Art (Marvel, 1963). Shades of Predator: This turning-point piece from the evolution of Atlas Comics into Marvel anticipates Arnold Schwarzenegger's hit movie of 1987, in its tale of a human-hunting creature from outer space. Of course, all such yarns descend from Richard Connell's famous story of 1924, "The Most Dangerous Game" -- which descends, in turn, from the ancient mythology of Siegfried and Beowulf. That qualifies Marvel as a channel of epic mythology, and the great Ditko as one powerful interpreter. Ink over graphite on bright white Bristol board the image area measures 12.5" x 18", with minimal toning, one adhesive stain (in the lower right), where a "continued" blurb had been taped. In Excellent condition.
